How to Network Successfully

Networking can have positive impact on you and your business, but how can you get the most out of your local network?

From attending, sponsoring, and even hosting events, the team at #GCBizHub are actively involved in networking and the local community. We’ve put together some networking tips and tricks for you:

1.  Be prepared

You never know who you might meet at networking events. Come prepared – as if every person you meet could become your next client.

Dress professionally, take along plenty of business cards, and most importantly don’t forget a positive attitude.Positive energy creates positive circumstances.

2.  Sponsorships

Sponsoring networking events is a great way to increase brand awareness and get people talking about your business. There’s a variety of sponsorships to choose from and they can be as simple as sponsoring a prize for a raffle draw.

3.  Don’t make it all about business

It’s great to make connections and exchange business cards, but try to not to over do it.  Getting to know each other’s business is the essential idea behind networking events, however people know when they’re being sold to. Avoid sounding like an infomercial – rather focus on understanding the person you’re talking to and work on that relationship.

4.  Build the connection

As the saying goes: “Rome wasn’t built in a day”, and neither are great business relationships. They require time and trust. So, when you meet a valuable business connection, get their details and follow up with them the next day. Who knows, you might have just met that business connection you’ve always needed . . . .
