5 Ways to Motivate Your Team

Are you finding that your work inspiration is a little low at the moment?  Keeping motivated can be difficult, but we have a few tips we hope might help you and your team.

1. Encourage new ideas

Conduct brainstorming sessions. Foster an environment where ideas and collaboration can flourish. Allowing your team members to think creatively enables them to do their job in a more unique, engaging way making work that much more enticing.

2. Be flexible

Whenever possible, offer flexibility.  This is especially important in the current climate.   Meetings may need to be conducted at scheduled times, but some people are more productive in the morning, while others are better at night.  If you have staff working from home because of Covid-19 and can offer them the flexibility of working hours, some early birds, some night owls, productively may improve if staff are working at their own peak.

3. Be understanding

Listening and understanding will help you to build your relationships with your employees. When mistakes occur, you should never hold it against the employee.  We recommend you frame the mistakes as learning experiences. Winston Churchill said:

“Success is not final; failure is not fatal.  It is the courage to continue that counts.”

4. Thank your employees

Showing gratitude in your workplace is one of the easiest, yet underrated workplace gestures. Data from studies show that the main reason for employee turnover rates is because they don’t feel appreciated.

Now more than ever remember to thank your colleagues for something you’re grateful for.

5. Celebrate successes

A great way to maintain productivity and ensure staff are motivated is through celebrating all successes that the business achieves. If you win an award, celebrate with the team, but also remember to celebrate individual achievements. Celebrating achievements of the individual not only shows the employee they are appreciated, but also encourages them to be more engaged and motivated at work.
